I'm using the 780 myself. I agree, they're too tight, but I think the sound is amazing. I eventually got used to the headphones, but every now and then I need a break. I wanna buy new ones as well, but since mine still work just fine, I can't talk myself into buying a new set.
Plantronics DSP-500 or Gamecom Pro 1 is still to this date the best headset I've ever had. You can find them on ebay since they stopped making them in 05, I have boxes full of them in my closet and refuse to use anything else (can wear for days at a time with no issue).
